Weekend Hightlights

It was such a beautiful weekend so we took advantage of the warm weather. On Saturday we took a short trip to the Getty museum with Matt's parents. Kylie had fun riding the tram, playing with Grandma and Grandpa, and exploring the gardens. There was also a kids area that she enjoyed. Evie was a trooper and tagged along well.

On Sunday we met a bunch of friends for an early dinner and hang out time at the beach. My friend Alison has been practicing with her camera and here's some fun shots she got of Ky.

Coming Up for Air

Last week was rough. All 4 of us were sick. The girls weren't sleeping well which means neither were we. Kylie has decided she'd rather sleep on the floor right next to the door instead of her bed- silly goose, we'll see how long this lasts. 3 of us are feeling better- Ky just can't seem to get rid of her stuffy nose. Evie has been napping beautifully once we moved the swing into her room. I'm going to try having her sleep in it during the night too to see if it helps. In the midst of the sleepless nights, we still managed to have some fun during the days. I celebrated my birthday on Tuesday. Matt must have been really sleep deprived because on his card to me he wrote "Happy 33rd birthday! Welcome to the mid 30s." Nothing wrong with that except I turned 31!!! And I do not appreciate 2 years being added to my life:)

Matt had Monday off for MLK so we ate at The Yellow Vase for breakfast- yum!

I didn't want to cook on my birthday dinner but didn't want a fancy meal either, so we ate at the brand new Chick-Fil-A which is super close. We unexpectedly ran in to the Svendsens while eating which was so fun. It makes me want to start a monthly Chick-Fil-A dinner for whoever wants to join us, like the first Thursday of the month or something like that. I also had friends, Krista and Alison bring me yummy lunch and cupcakes and Jen bring me an afternoon latte- such a treat! I felt very loved.

On Sunday we enjoyed a nice, short hike in PV with gorgeous views.

And thank you to Pinterest yet again! I had fun making this Valentine's Day Wreath over the last few evenings. I honestly didn't expect it to take so long wrapping the yarn around the wreath frame but I'm pleased with how it turned out and sometimes it's kind of nice to do a mindless activity while watching TV. Instead of unwinding I was winding:)

2 pics for 2 months

Evie is 2 months old already. We went to the Dr. today and she weighs 9lbs 14oz, and is 25th percentile for both height and weight. We were having a really hard time with her- lots of crying and very little napping during the day, so we ended up going to the Dr last Sat. She gave us some Zantac for reflux and it's like we have a completely different baby! She's napping well and seems to be much happier. The poor girl must have been in pain but I didn't suspect reflux because she wasn't spitting up much. She's smiling a little, I'm hoping for lots more smiles now that she feels better. She has rolled over twice- tummy to back, but I kind of think both were a fluke. And she's sleeping better at night- even giving me 8 hours last night. Her favorite activity is being held while one of us bounces on the exercise ball- a little exhausting but it calms her down almost always. I look forward to her interacting with us more and more!

Christmas in Davis

We spent a wonderful week in Davis. Although the drive was long, the girls did pretty well- great on the way there, a little harder on the way home, I guess they didn't want to leave. Here's our whole gang- 9 of us now, wow! Hard to get the kids to smile, still working on that. Kylie and Jadon got these cool rolling coasters, and they absolutely love them! Fun for kids and adults too.

Here's Ky with some of my cousins' kids after the Christmas Eve service.

Kylie LOVES to hold her sister (for short periods of time)

Christmas morning we had fun opening stockings. We waited to open presents until the afternoon when Jim, Rachel, and Jadon arrived.

My Dad has been really looking forward to taking the kids on a double decker bus ride. Unfortunately the double deckers weren't running during the holidays but they still rode the regular bus to the park and they even got special bus shirts to wear for the ride.

Here comes the bus!

It was a wonderful week of relaxing and just being with family. It's also so fun to see Kylie and Jadon play together. Jim and Rachel gave us all Disneyland gift certificates to use this year so we look forward to going and having the kids enjoy the happiest place on Earth for the first time!

Christmas came early...

We celebrated Christmas with Matt's family this past weekend since we'll be with my family next week. Kylie got spoiled with fun presents.

A playhouse which she adores!! When we are not playing in it she is frequently pointing outdoors and saying house. And she loves having company so come on over friends to enjoy it with her:)

And a....

kitchen! Another hit- here she is putting her groceries away...

Uncle John got her this awesome trike- it can even turn into a tandem and has a handle to push it

We walked the Torrance Seaside lights- always so magical and festive. Thankfully we made it back to the car right before it started to rain. And of course we concluded our weekend with a little ping pong- Matt's new obsession but didn't get any pics this time:)

Delightful December...

Here's what we've been up to the last few weeks. Last week our church put on Journey to Bethlehem. Over 10,000 people from the community walked through the event! It's a great way to remember and focus on why we celebrate Christmas. Kylie was most excited to see the animals although she did have fun copying the singing angels' hand movements as well.

Evie has been practicing her camoflauge skills...

Saturday morning snuggles

Evie turned 1 month yesterday. She weighs 8lbs 4 oz. She still wakes up every 3-4 hours to eat during the night but thankfully she goes right back to sleep after each feeding. Thanks for the adorable month stickers Kelly! They came just in time:)

We invited a few friends over the night Santa was supposed to come down our street. Unfortunately his sleigh broke down so he never made it:( but it was still a fun night of hanging out. Thanks to Alison and Sheri for getting these fun pics from the evening.

Kylie loves to hold her sister and give kisses.

Why isn't Santa here yet??

Evie's First 2 weeks

Here's a few pics showing what we've been up to the last few weeks. My mom and I took the girls for a walk on the strand. She was here for 2 weeks and was such a tremendous help. Since I was on bed rest, it had been quite a while since I had been able to enjoy the strand and it's one of my favorite things about living in the South Bay so it was so nice to get out. Besides being pretty heavy (I think I'll get strong arms), I love the Double Bob stroller!

Kylie is trying very hard to be helpful- and loves bringing Evie her hats.

This one just makes me smile

Evie and Grandpa

Kylie loved getting to help Grandma cook

Daddy and his girls

Happy Thanksgiving- we were so lucky to get to spend it with both families this year!

The crew

Evie slept through the whole meal

Matt recently purchased a ping pong table and lemme tell you, it's gotten quite a lot of use already! fun fun!

Evie already got to meet her Great Grandma Nonna who was visiting from Arizona

Sleeping with Daddy

Julie and Alison came for a super fun visit!

And Jim, Rachel, and Jadon came too! I know these cousins will love growing up together.

I love my girls

I survived Day 1 on my own with the girls and it went surprisingly better than I thought...probably because Evie slept almost the whole day! I'm ready for Day 2 and almost ready for bed and it's only 8PM:)
