Goodbye Lockridges

Our dear friends, the Lockridges moved to Modesto last weekend, sigh. We had a little going away party for them before they drove their Uhaul and trailer to their new home. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures at the party besides this one. It was finally a warm summer day and I was wishing we had more shade to offer...maybe an umbrella is in our future!


Kylie and Levi had one last playdate while Megan and Dave packed up the Uhaul, sorry I caught you with your eyes closed, buddy. We hope to see their new house when we drive home from our Donner Lake vacation.


And Kylie was a big help cleaning up after the party!


On Sunday, Ky and I hung out at Rat Beach. It was such a perfect beach day, I think I would have swam if I didn't have her. Thankfully this lifeguard was very kind and even let her climb up his tower:)

3 on Wednesday

We had a nice, quiet Father's Day. Matt tried to get lifeguarding work because he has to work 5 days a year but it was kind of nice that it was gloomy and they didn't call him. Kylie sure does love her Daddy and loves saying his name!


We know it's a little early but Matt is very excited to teach Kylie how to ride a bike. He wanted to get this kind that doesn't use training wheels. Instead, you take off the pedals while they are learning, lower the seat, and they just use their feet to get around. Then, when they've got their balance, you add the pedals. Matt was telling a coworker about it, and the guy surprisingly had this kind of bike sitting in his garage and gave it to us! So nice and generous of him! So Kylie now has a BMW bike- that's right, our girl is going to ride in style- we just need to make it a bit girly.


A few weeks ago Kylie learned how to climb up the couch and get on the kitchen counters, clearly not safe:( She even broke a glass hurricane last week. It is proving to be a little bit difficult to discipline her into not doing it anymore.

Flashback Friday

Here I am 4 months pregnant today and 4 months pregnant with Kylie. I feel like I've popped out way quicker this time around bc truth be told, I'm holding my stomach in a little in this picture and I purposely didn't want to take the pic at night when I feel huge. But last pregnancy, I always took the pics in the evening. One of my darling little boys announced to the class yesterday, "Mrs. Smart, your baby is showing!" So true and very fun.

Jadon's 1st Birthday/ Visit with Grandma and Grandpa

My nephew, Jadon, turned 1 last week. We had fun celebrating with him! He was a little slow at first but ended up devouring his cake.


Rachel did an incredible job decorating for his monkey themed party. Here was the entrance to the backyard party.

My parents stayed a few days with us and babysat Kylie one day while I worked. We enjoyed a Sunday stroll along Torrance Beach.


And a fun dinner at CPK. They have a fun promo going on right now where a manager opens coupons that you're given. Everyone wins and there are a few $25,000 and $100,000 winners. We got 50% off our whole meal.

Book Club/ Teaching

My book club (friends from teaching) has been faithfully meeting for the last 5 or 6 years. While the reading is more optional and we don't often discuss the books, we love talking and getting together for dinners. Over the years the hosts have made such great food that we decided to compile all our recipes together to make a cook book. We're using tastebook and are about to order them- I can't wait to get mine! Anyways we decided to do a little photo shoot for the cookbook. My friend Brianne's husband, Eli is a talented photographer so he took some pics of us in our aprons:)

Camping Adventures

Last weekend we braved a camping trip with the Holmes and Lockridges to San Elijo, just south of Encinitas. This was a campsite Matt grew up going to as a kid and has lots of fond memories. The campsites fill up very fast (I think we reserved ours back in Dec.) and unfortunately, I think we had one of the worst ones in the entire campground. We were right next to a busy road which you can see in the pics below and there was a loud train that came by frequently and blasted its horn while passing our tents. It seriously felt like it was going through our tent at 2AM. Combined with some rowdy neighbors who stayed up til 2AM talking and some sick babies, very few of us got any sleep the first night. But, we made the best of it and had a fun time. I felt like I was chasing Kylie all weekend long and she ate more dirt than I care to admit:)





Thankfully we had gorgeous weather and enjoyed some beach time. Kylie was very brave in the water and wanted to follow her Daddy right out to the waves.


Stevie didn't want to miss out on the water either.
