We enjoyed some great beach time with Sheri and Tim on Sunday afternoon. We biked down to Manhattan. The boys body surfed and the girls relaxed on the sand.
We had Adam and Angela over for one more dinner last week before they move to Denver. It's been fun being neighbors the last 4 years and we'll really miss them!
BEFORE: Matt and I found this cool tree art canvas thing hanging in the back of PB kids. We really liked it but didn't love the color scheme, knowing that it wouldn't go with the baby's bedding. We decided to buy it anyway and I don't mean to be a CPT (Complusive Price Teller) but we got such an incredible deal- orig. $200, we got it for $40. (I knew there was no way I could make it any cheaper.)
AFTER: I went to a fabric store with the crib sheets and picked out fabrics to cover some of the leaves to make it more girly and matchy with the bedding- seen in the bottom right hand of the pic. I learned how to interface (applying something to the back of the fabric so it sticks when you iron it on) and all and all it was pretty easy. And we're really happy with the result!
I helped Jen with our church's annual bbq and baptism evening at Seaside Lagoon this past Sunday. It did not go according to plan. With 850 people who showed up (we were expecting max 700) the food lines were extremely slow and sadly we ran out of food for those at the end. However, if we remember why we were all there- to see 80 people get baptized and make a public declaration about an inner commitment they had already made to live for Christ, it was a success!
Fun fact about what we're wearing: I sewed Matt's shirt for him in college and my mu mu (sp?) is my Mom's from 1971 when she went to Hawaii with her parents- it's almost 40 years old!

Jen, Megan, Meredith and I headed to downtown for free museum day at LACMA (LA County Museum of Art). We packed picnic lunches and ate at the La Brea park and then walked through a few exhibits. I'm not a huge museum fan so my highlight was stopping at Diddy Riese on the way home. However, there were some really cool spots to take pics right outside of the museum.
Isn't this unique? Lots of colorful baskets hanging on strings. Tons of kids were running through this maze so it took a few attempts to get a pic without someone in the middle of it.
Meredith, Jen, and I hit a bucket of balls over at the Lakes. I hadn't been to a driving range in a long time so it was fun to try again. I was surprised that I was sore the next day.
Last weekend I headed up to San Luis Obispo for my annual girls reunion weekend. That place holds a special place in my heart and it was so fun seeing and catching up with the girls!

The manager came over, handed me a drink, and whispered in my ear..."It's a pregotini. I've been making them for years. No alcohol of course. Congratulations, it's on the house." (His wife was due in a week.)
It was delicious!
Monique is due 1 month before me. It's so fun to talk to someone who is going through all the same things at the same time.

We spent a wonderful week with my family at Donner Lake. We've done this many summers and I kept thinking about how next summer will be such a different trip with a baby!

The boys after they completed their 5 hour ride to make it to the top of the Pacific Crest Trail. Success! They had to ditch their bikes in a bush and hike up the last 2 miles by foot. Jim did this on my old mtn bike I got in 4th grade.
The girls after we joined the buoy club. See the buoys in the background? They really aren't that far but my mom says we have to swim to them each year to be members of the buoy club.
